Welding thickness range of laser welding machine


The thinnest material thickness that laser welding machines can weld is usually around 0.05 millimeters (50 microns), suitable for metal materials such as stainless steel, aluminum alloys, copper alloys, etc.


General thickness range:

1000W laser welding machine: suitable for welding plates with a thickness of less than 3 millimeters.

1500W laser welding machine: suitable for welding plates with a thickness of less than 5 millimeters.

2000W laser welding machine: suitable for welding plates with a thickness of less than 8mm.

3000W laser welding machine: suitable for welding plates with a thickness of less than 12 millimeters.


Factors affecting the welding thickness of laser welding machines


  1. Laser power: The greater the laser power, the deeper the welding depth. For thin materials, lower laser power is required to avoid material overheating or burning through; For thick materials, higher power is required.

  2. Pulse width: The longer the pulse width, the more heat accumulates in the welding area, and the deeper the penetration. For thin materials, a shorter pulse width is required to avoid overheating.

  3. Frequency: The higher the frequency, the more laser pulses there are per unit time, and the faster the welding speed. For thin materials, a higher frequency is required to ensure heat concentration.

  4. Protective gas: Protective gases such as argon or helium can improve the purity and smoothness of welds, reduce the generation of pores and cracks.
